Who is Marilyn Manson?
People around the world have asked, "Who is Marilyn Manson? How has he impacted the world?"
Brian Warner (a.k.a. Marilyn Manson) is a shock rocker who is known for his ghastly, cadaverous look and equally dark lyrics. He was born on January 5, 1969 and grew up in Canton, Ohio. While in college, he hit the music world as a music journalist.
The name Marilyn Manson is a combination of the names Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. Manson's band was originally named Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. By 1992, the band had taken a harder edge and in 1993, they signed a contract with Nothing Records. The groups debut album was Portrait of an American Family. In 1995, the group's release of Smells Like Children broke them into mainstream.
It was at this time the opposition to Manson began to grow. Concerts were picketed and his lyrics were attacked as evil. Marilyn Manson's music promotes suicide, death, drug use, violence, and hatred.
Other albums released were titled: Smells like White Trash, Sweet Dreams, Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, Humananimal Box, The Last Tour on Earth, Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death), Get Your Gunn, Genesis of the Devil, The Word According to Manson, The Golden Age of Grotesque, and Lest We Forget.
Through the years, Marilyn Manson has become one of the most controversial musicians in history.
